WHAT’S YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION? - HOW ABOUT “EVERYTHING”
A spine surgeon I was consulting asked if I thought it was ok for the word “Everything” to be the first line on every job description. I said I thought it was brilliant! I was emceeing an event and the frantic next speaker said, “I am so sorry, I know it is not your job but I really need a mic stand.” I replied, “EVERYTHING is my job. Let me take care of that for you.” I asked a flight attendant who was collecting trash for a cup of coffee when he got the chance (I had slept through the beverage service). His bewildered response was, “I’m just picking up trash”. With that mentality, I thought, that’s all you’re ever going to be doing.
